The doctrine of the "Spirit of Truth" is the belief that the baptism of the Holy Ghost is a continuing work of God's Spirit in the lives of Jesus' disciples which is distinct from, and for a different purpose than salvation. This allows for the individual and corporate operation of spiritual gifts, but only in ways that are specifically defined within the parameters of the Holy King James Bible.
The first book in this series, The Word of Truth, shows how the Bible's own testimony, and that of Jesus himself, both affirm the providential preservation of Scripture to every generation. The only English Bible that meets the textual requirements for preservation is the King James Bible. This conviction, however, is often absent from contemporary churches. Furthermore, an anything-goes attitude regarding the text of Scripture leads directly to an unrestrained approach in the area of spiritual gifts.
Generally speaking, serious Christians fall into two categories: those who emphasize the authority and authenticity of God's Holy Words, and those who focus on the moving and ministry of God's Holy Spirit. In the majority of churches which fall along denominational lines, these two groups seem almost mutually exclusive with each one lying on opposite sides of a theological wall of separation. But this wall must come down as believers increasingly value both the Holy Ghost and the Holy Bible. In this way, the true Spirit breathes life and vitality into the hearts of God's people, while the true Bible guards against excess and abuse.
The Spirit of Truth presents clear and compelling scriptural reasons for adhering to the "Spirit of Truth" doctrine. This is the believing view of Scripture, because it accepts the promise of the Father to give the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13) and good gifts (Matthew 7:11) to those who are already his children. The availability of God's Spirit in this way is for every generation, "For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call" (Acts 2:39).
With explanations of many pertinent passages including the Book of Acts and 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14, along with examinations of the subject from the perspectives of Jesus and other prominent New Testament personalities, The Spirit of Truth helps lay the biblical foundation for the Word & Spirit Revival, which is calling believers back to worshipping the Father, "in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23-24).
